The resignation of the Lebanese government was announced after the horrific bombing in Beirut. Lebanese Prime Minister Hassan Diab, resigning from his post, said that the port bombings were the result of corruption and that the roots of corruption were stronger than the state system. He said that the political classes had burdened the country with debts. Hassan Diab further said that they stood by the people on the demand of bringing the perpetrators of the port blast to justice. It should be noted that the Lebanese cabinet had already resigned. The resignation of the Prime Minister has come at a time when the people of the country are feeling great anger after the horrific explosion on August 4. A bomb blast near the northern city of Beirut has killed at least 200 people and injured 6,000 others.
