The plane was technically safe, the Ministry of Aviation will investigate the crash: Arshad Malik

Addressing a press conference in Karachi, PIA CEO Arshad Malik said that there would be a transparent inquiry into the accident which took place on Friday afternoon in which neither PIA nor CAA would have any role.
He said the plane was technically completely safe.
He said the plane was in flight and for the final landing, the pilot approached the control tower and informed that the plane was fully ready for landing.
The plane is said to be ready for landing. It is cleared from the control tower and told to land. But after arriving at the airport, the plane goes 'round' and decides on the second approach. The plane is said to be approaching a second time.
"Something has happened to them in the meantime. Details of what happened to the plane will only be known by examining the voice recorder. Only then will it be known whether the plane had a technical problem or a bird struck the plane.
"When the plane takes off, the pilot is asked if there is a problem with you," he said. "Yes, I have a problem." After that, the communication is lost and then the plane crashes.
He said that the accommodation of the relatives who want to come to Karachi has been arranged at the hotel of Karachi Airport. He said that nobody of a resident has been recovered from the area where the plane crashed.
According to Arshad Malik, rescue work at the site will take two to three days to complete.
The Airbus A320 that crashed in Karachi today was added to the PIA fleet in 2014.
